Resting

i am at my parents' place. took leave for 2 days because my sis was suppose to undergo ceaser yesterday and my dad was to have his check up. no one to look after the kids. so this sister decided to volunteer.

but fate interjected and this leave ended up to be a sick leave. i am down with sinus. i have never been diagnosed with it. but somehow thought that it could be sinus the night before. the pain is in my skull area macam kat cheek bone, jaw, above the eyes. kepala pun rasa berat semacam. badan macam seram sejuk. combined with selsema and batuk and sore throat. memang knocked me out. doctor kata it's because the rongga is filled with fluid.

my sis pun tak jadik nak operate since she is also sick. doctor advised her to do it next week. kat rumah ni dah macam hospital. wan pun tengah terbaring je tu. he is down, probably with sinus as well. mak just recovered from demam this week and abah lak selsema.

times like this, i am just glad that my family is not far away. can't imagine kalau aku dok kat ganu ke..

and yesterday wan asked me... camana kalau kita dah umur 50 eh? jawab aku.. tu pasal kena jaga anak-anak buah ni. hoefully leh tumpang kasih sayang diorang.. 50 is not too far away for us actually. so selagi mampu, tabur budi banyak-banyak, carik duit banyak-banyak, jaga kesihatan. it's true that health is wealth.

so, dah makan vitamin? ekekeke...

Celoteh on LCCT

I haven't taken a flight anywhere for a while. I think the last one I took was to US. And there's a horror story to that flight. Nantilah bila free I'll write it. Not horror as in the flight crashed or anything like that. Takut lak kang korang dok expect cerita ganas gitu. No. Ni lite-lite punya horror.

Errr but that's not what I wanted to cerita here.

The cerita here is about my observation on LCCT semalam. After not being there for a while and got to go there to get to Miri, aku rasa tempat tu dah macam Puduraya suatu waktu dahulu dah. Minus the smoke from exhaust bas. Yang lain, sama. Ok, minus the litter and the smell of air kencing. For those yang tak penah guna Puduraya, dulu boleh ada smell aku kencing sebab obviously someone kencing kat area-area tangga gitu. Boleh? Memang tak cukup sivik depa ni. Ok, so people yang guna LCCT masih lagi civilised up to certain extend lah.

Maybe that's the same everywhere with low fare flights terminals. Maybe. But what I have seen ithe one in UK and it is not like that. Pastu aku terpikir... mungkin sebab kat UK tu sejuk kot? That adds to the 'ambience' condition which makes it more relaxing rather than kat Mesia ni panas buta? Entah. Tapi manusia punyalah ramai. People are just everywhere. Tempat duduk sikit, most people just roam around, dengan full pack nya kat kedai makan, dengan people beratur, dengan macam-macam lagilah. Sesak mata aku. Tempat tu sempit gila ke ha? Memang rasa macam nak naik bas murah je. Tak cukup dengan manusia, kereta pun main berenti mana diorang nak and drop and wait for people. Drop tu aku tak kisah. Yang menunggu idlly in the cars aku kesah. Because they are blocking a lane. Nak gerak payah. Tu tak cukup sivik tu. But then again, memang takde tempat untuk diorang menunggu lak. Kalau nak tunggu, kena tunggu somewhere along the highway approaching LCCT kot. Tu baru tak mengganggu trafik. LCCT yang baru nanti aku tak tau camana lak rupa dia. I just hope that they invest on multilevel carpark. It helps a lot. Ni kereta rata-rata. Asal leh campak kete tu, campak je. Sesak mata aku memandang.

Nasib semalam tu aku sampai just in time. Aku masuk just ngam-ngam the time they announced untuk boarding. So I didn't have to roam looking for seat or wonder what to do to kill time.

Pastu aku sempat observe.. aku memang tak gemar tengok anak-anak kapal punya baju yang kurang 'kelas'. To me, MAS is still the best in that sense. Baju kemas, rambut tersusun, mekap standard. So used to that, that I think everything else kurang kelas. Boleh? Sungguh bias aku nih. Sungguh particular about benda-benda kecik ginih. Padahal for as long as they provide the necessary service, what the hell kan? And, ada lak tu semalam aku nampak stewardess AA ni punya belah skirt dah macam rabak sikit, so nampak the lining of the skirt terkeluar from celah belah tu. Geram je aku tengok. Nak je aku sekolahkan diorang. Boleh? Sick kan aku ni?? Hahahahaha..

Whatever it is, I just hope that they don't compromise on safety. They can cut cost anywhere else, as long as it's not to the point that they put safety at risk. And on that matter, aku wonder sapa audit them on safety..

Solution to my problem statement

I am starting to fall in love with my iPad2.

I don’t like opening computers at home. Or anywhere for that matter. Except in the office and it’s probably because of the office environment. To me yang pemalas ni, even opening laptop pun leceh, boleh? Especially bila nak kena guna mouse (because I hate guna scroller kat laptop tu) and got to plug in the power cable when power runs out. Pastu nak position the laptop pun kena proper sebab kalau tak kejap je dah tak comfortable. Yelah, nak go online sambil tgk tv.. memanglah susah kan. Tu pasal I don’t go online often at home. Nak go online kat henfon pun malas sebab skrin kecik.

With iPad, since now I already have the SIM card (wink..wink!) in the iPad, the internet connection gets turn on the moment I flip open the cover of my iPad. Mudah, bukan? Ofkos I still like typing using a keyboard. I do that faster than typing on the touchscreeen. It has got to do with my normal fingers size (since I think my finger yang runcing despite my body size ni, is a normal average size for human) as well as the sensitivity of the touchscreen. Because of that, I keep on thinking of getting an iPad cover that comes with a keyboard. Or buy the keyboard from Apple Store online. But before that I’ve got to see how often I think of using the typing function on iPad. If it’s just to type the password and to get connected, tak yah lah kan. Membazir duit yang dah banyak aku habiskan ever since I owned an Acer Tab and iPad jek!

Owh the solution for my SIM card..

Yesterday we went to a Maxis agent to get an iPhone for Wan. Aku tanya budak kaunter tu ada stok tak, dia kata ada. But when we wanted to get one, dia kata tak leh dapat the phone on the same day. Got to come again tomorrow once the line has been connected, to collect the phone. Macam haram! Bila aku marah budak tu, budak tu reply kata aku cuma tanya ada stok tak. Aku tak tanya bila boleh dapat phone tu. Memamg macam haram! Cilakak sangat. Dahlah time tu kitorang kat Seremban. Takkan nak datang esoknya takat nak ambik phone je. Grrrrrr! Marah aku dengan budak tu!!

Then dalam kegeraman aku, aku tanya lak pasal nak get a SIM card for iPad. Budak tu tunjuk the plan. Sekali Wan tanya boleh tak kalau guna the existing broadband yang kitorang ada. Budak tu kata boleh. Hmm.. aku tak terpikir lak. Aku tanya lak budak tu kalau nak potong SIM card untuk jadik SIM card for iPad berapa dia charge. Dia kata RM3. So we decided to head that direction. Maka berSIM-cardlah iPad aku dah ;)

With iPad yang dah ada SIM card and YES 4G untuk guna kat rumah as well as mobile, we decided to just stick with Hotlink je untuk phone Wan. We are thinking of just getting the iPhone online. Although the price is more expensive than the one that comes with package, we don’t have to have any contract with any company. Tak suka kalu, switch over to anyone else. Like a whore. No loyalty. Settle. Ok gitu? Hahahaha.. Pastu with YES, iPhone can ride on the wifi kalau tak cukup credit on Hotlink tu. And it’s good in the sense that boleh bajet banyak mana guna for the month. Takdelah rasa macam terlebih or terkurang guna. Can also use YES to make calls with the free calls and sms. So I think we’ve got the solution that works for the both of us ;)

Me, happy!

At least for now. Until I have another problem statement that needs a solution. And mostly the solutions cost money. Pfth!

Owh why iPhone? Because we have done some exploration with iPad and iPhone is just the next item that we should have. Senang share apps especially those that I have purchased :D

Cempedak luar pagar

I am not an ICT (information, communication technology to those who wonder and planned to Google for what it is..) savvy. I don’t bother much on the development of the technology. It’s moving too rapidly (much rapid than our RAPID transportation system in KL) and I am never interested to follow up with it. I am lost in translation when I go to Low Yat and Digital Mall or any IT fair. It’s really an unknown jungle to me. And I am married to someone who thinks that Mat Sentul is cool and Ahmad Jais’ white shoes are super cool, who owns stupidphone (since it’s not smartphone) that is about to fall apart anytime soon, with screen that’s full of scratches. No need any screen protector. To the outsiders, I am lost. To him, I am his super-terror wife. Best!

Computer is something that I have never bothered to own. All my life, I have only bought a computer like gadget once.. or now twice. The first ever is my Acer Tab and the second is my iPad2. I don’t think I would ever get an iPad2 if I didn’t get it in the lucky draw. I use computer mostly for work related matters. When I am at home, I rarely turn on my laptop. Oh, I did utilise my laptop heavily once upon a time when I was searching for a hubby. Somehow my hubby who is lost in the dense of ICT jungle and me who is slightly better than him, found each other in the cyberworld! Isn’t it ironic! Muehehehe..

I have always been using computers issued by company or school when I was studying (or boyfriend issued ;) ). Everything built in, and I am just to use it. Should there be any problem, ICT dept will help to solve it. Same goes with smartphone. I have never bothered to learn about smartphone. And I only started using it when the company issued me with a BB. Otherwise, I might still use a stupidphone. Since it’s company issued, I never bothered about any of the charges incurred. Same with computer, all built in. ICT will be referred to if there’s any problem with it. Senang.

I only realised that I am total lost when I wanted to purchase my Acer Tab. I know nothing about computer’s tech spec. Nothing. I get confused between RAM and ROM. I don’t know about the latest processor. I don’t know the size. I don’t know the speed. I don’t know what are the latest size and speed that people are talking about. I don’t know the necessary software to support the computer. Ever since I have to use a computer, everything has been given to me on a silver platter. Guna je.

Same goes with smartphones. I was lost when people talked about android. And android always referred to some cookies or dessert. Thanks to Google, I am not that lost anymore. I can at least understand enough about it. Just enough. Nothing more.

And with smartphones, comes the payment plan. I don’t know how much it costs per month to use a smartphone. Anything and everything that I used on my BB is all covered under the company package. I just use. I don’t even know if it costs the company anything at all if I am running FB or twitter or any apps in the background. I don’t even know if they used up the ‘gigs’ (I really don’t know what is the right term for it!).

Ehem. The above is just the intro..

And so I have an iPad.. But I don’t have any internet connection to make it work in a place without a wifi connection. I haven’t bought the SIM card for it yet and trying to figure out the best option. I thought of asking the hubby to get for himself a smartphone. With that will come a phone bill that I couldn’t imagine the amount. We already have a Maxis broadband at home. A dongle. So can only be used on a single laptop but no use for iPad. And he has a stupidphone bill to pay for now.

So.. if I get a SIM card for my iPad which will not be compatible to Maxis dongle, between both of us then we have 2 lines that won’t be fully utilise. And when he gets his smartphone, that’s another SIM card and another bill. Of course the easiest solution is to get a SIM card for my iPad, keep the Maxis broadband that at times crawl rather than run, and hubby to get his smartphone. For someone who doesn’t really rely on internet to feel alive, I just feel that it’s too much. Hubby can actually live with his stupidphone but I am just sick of looking at it. Boleh? But then when we talk about smartphone, he wants Galaxy Note. Eksyen tak boleh blah. Wants the latest and greatest. Pergh.

And so, with a problem statement, I spoke to a friend who is an ICT whore. He is just a whore. Either that or a pimp. He is confused which one would he prefer. He suggested me to buy a mobile broadband router. Basically with the router, I just need to plug the Maxis broadband dongle into it and walla both hubby and I can share the connection. With the advice, I went and bought one myself. It works fine, but the problem is I have to hook it to a power source. It doesn’t run on a battery. Urgh. But bought already, okay! So gunalah.

Then I gatal-gatal went and surf looking for other options. I am yet to be satisfied. Yelah, I still have to have a power connection and it’s not all that user-friendly in that sense, right? And I bumped into Yes 4G line. The way it was advertised, attracted me to. Well, that’s the power of advertisement. And the powerless of a gullible. It said that for RM68, I could get 3.5GB data, 150 free calls to any operators in Malaysia, 150 free sms to any operators in Malaysia. And I could buy it online. And I could choose my number. Sounds attractive isn’t it? I thought it should work well on my iPad, on hubby’s laptop as well as on hubby’s future smartphone. Got number maaaa.. Can sms maaaa.. My coolest solution! So I thought. And so I bought it. Once the transaction was done, all I got was a thank you. Erk? Where to get the SIM card loh? Of course I have made sure I know where their stores are located. And so I went to the store.

Although I am not an ICT savvy, I am not dumb. I can understand the basic explanation from the salesgirl. Or anyone for that matter. I still have some brain cells that I have allocated to understand bits and pieces on ICT. From her I found out that 4G line doesn’t come with a SIM card. Bodoh. I know that I have to get their device but what I didn’t know was that there’s no SIM card that comes with the device. There are a few devices that they have and I chose huddle. I am not going to explain what huddle is here. Google please. The good part about the huddle is that it has a battery on its own. Brilliant. And yes I can use the huddle with a smartphone. Tapi tulah. Got to carry the huddle around together with the phone. Grrrr… Bodoh.

And yet my problem is not solved.

And I still don’t know if running FB or twitter or anything in the background would consume the ‘gig’ or not. And I still don’t know if I use PAYU plan, would running those apps be considered as YU. It should be isn’t it? Grrr…

And the list of ICT things that I now own:
Acer Tab (which my bro-in-law is interested to buy)
iPad2 wifi and 3G (but yet to have a SIM card)
mobile broadband router (which now I feel like selling it)
Yes 4G line and huddle

I feel like I am becoming a whore. Or a pimp. Whore works for a pimp. Pimp owns a whore.

Back to life, back to reality..

Today is my first day at work after being away for more than a week. It was a good break indeed. Time passed by so fast. But I had great time. Mostly because most of the time during the break, it was spent with families. Most of the time I was away from home. Kalau tak Seremban, Pilah, then Melaka. Balik KL pun hari Khamis jap, pastu back to Seremban on Saturday. Sempatlah jugak mengemas rumah sikit-sikit. Sempatlah jugak gi tengok wayang seround.

And now, got to pick up my momentum that I have left behind. Huhuhuu.. Tough, but the moment aku masuk ofis, I know it's going to be okay. This is what I do. This is what 'normal' to me.

Bila dah back to 'reality' ni, my body clock automatically get adjusted lak. Tau lak time lapo. Kalau time cuti tu, suma main langgar je. Since dah lapo ni, nak kena carik food ye! Muehehehe.. Food pun, kalau dah kat ofis ni, pandai je makan oat or cereal ye! Kalau kat rumah, jangan harap.

Worait. A short update to mark that I am ready to rock!! *busy benonya Januari nih..*
