Aku ada function yang akan take place on the 31st of January ni. Aku, a small part of the committee. Tapi it requires a lot of travelling. Tu yang selalu takde kat opis tu. Pastu, ada lak sorang umat ni resign, and aku gak nak kena take over keje dia. Mind you, SORANG punya keje tau. So it's like aku buat keje dia, tapi takde imbuhan. And prior to that, ada sorang umat yang resign gak, and aku amik 1/3 of keje dia. So basically, aku buat keje 2 1/3 orang, dengan gaji sorang! Okay tak company gini?? Pecah dah perintah gitu. Pecahkan keje, and perintahkan orang lain amik keje tu. Perghhh!! Bos aku tanya, nak buat keje tu interim je ke, or permanent. Aku kata, interim je. Tapi, for all I know, dah ada email kuar kata aku replaced umat tu! Uwaaaa!!! If that's the case, I really have to talk to the boss. Gilos keje gini tau.

Plus, last Monday, 21st January, kitorang moved to a new building. Building ni connected to the old building, tapi still le kan.. a move is a move. Hal ehwal mengemas dan memunggah barang dan mengemas semula tu, tetap ada. Pastu, dengan line phone, fax, email yang sangkut-sangkut lagi. So, kelam kabut le lagi situation kat sini.

Dalam pada ada function on the 31st ni, aku kena gi Kuantan Sunday ni. Ada job kat Kuantan on Monday. Then rush balik ke KL Monday tu gak sebab ada keje kena buat that night. Then on Tuesday, dry run untuk function tu. Hopefully, by Hari Wilayah ni, aku boleh tenang semula and update mana-mana yang tertangguh as well as baca blog korang.. I am totally behind now dengan cerita-cerita korang...

Till then, I miss you olssssssssssssss!!!

Keling sabit

I don't mean to be rude, but there's no other word to describe it. India sabit just doesn't fit. Oh, there's another word for it that I came to know. But, you have to hail from Kuala Pilah to know it. Or probably from Negeri Sembilan. Or in my case, married to one. It's called 'gencheh'. Both e's in the word are pronounced as e in ekor.

Those years when forwarded email and sms were something unheard of, rumours still get around. I can't imagine who started it, but it sure did roam around us. The rumours, I mean.

Though I never had the chance to see keling sabit 'live in person', the image of him is there in my head. Keling sabit would be wearing nothing but a white sarong folded up at his knees and a pair of slippers. He would be carrying a sack and a sabit, of course. If he's not walking, he would be cycling a basikal tua. Nothing more than that. Keling sabit won't be taking a motorbike, or a bus or anything with engine for that matter.

Rumours had it that keling sabit wanted nothing but human heads. It is sketchy for me now since the rumours took place when I was very young, but if I am not mistaken, he only wanted kids head. What were the heads for? They were needed in bridge building. Why, you might ask. Because head is the strongest structure in the world, especially one like mine, the kepala batu type. My lecturers in university might have the skipped that part of the syllabus in Civil and Structural course during my first year as it could be too gruesome to teach. But I guess once you really work in construction site, probably you'll see many heads lying around waiting to be installed to support the bridge structure.

Probably now they don't use keling sabit to look for the heads as they are afraid to be sued by some organisations who think that term is too derogatory to some people. Plus, the uniform is not posh. Or probably it's too dangerous to roam around with sabit while people has resorted to guns to kill one another. Now, they are probably called 'head hunters'. The job specification is the same, but the name is different, and they have disguised their looks. They look more professionals now, I guess, dorning their business attire.

Whatever it is, it is my belief that whoever started the rumours wanted to scare their kids from going outside the house and beware of the strangers. They were concerned about their kids safety. Since telling them straight to their face about the possibility of them being kidnapped doesn't work or too difficult to get into their heads, then keling sabit rumours might be the best resort. The mentioned of keling sabit to the kids could send the kids home in no time. It worked for me. Back then, I was not only afraid of keling sabit, but also other grass cutters as well. It didn't matter if they didn't fit the image of keling sabit. I was afraid of them all. I would stay inside the house, all locked up, and peeked trough a small window opening to watch any strangers around the house. My parents were working and there was no adult at home. Neither was then any CCTV. Only five of us, the kids. So it worked well for my parents.

And now, with the number of kidnap cases of young kids on the rise, I would suggest that we start the rumours again. If keling sabit is not a politically correct term, maybe we can use other creatures. Hantu kum-kum? Hantu kopek? Huh? What are they? Lain kali cerita lagi...

Weight Watchers

FedEx punya kisah tak abih lagi.. Pagi ni diorang call cakap lain lak lagi. Takpe lah. Aku dah bosan dengan explanation bangang. Suma from words of mouth, suma macam telinga bocor. Takde kelas punya service gitu. Harus takde ISO tu. Apa-apa pun, I won't get my barang hari ni. Hari Isnin nanti, aku lak kena kautim dengan orang lain. Memang *#^#$%)*^! Tatau nak cakap apa dah.

Cite lain lak..

Previously, on my 'successful' journey to losing weight, I noticed that I was highly motivated. Motivation was the thing that drove me to my success. It's not because I wanted to impress anyone. I did it for myself. I wanted to look good, feel good and be able to wear anything I want without feeling ugly. Besides that, at that time I was going out with my (ex) bf who loved me no matter how I look. So I thought, since he loved me no matter what, I should do something about the way I look as a reward to him, as an appreciation. Not because I need to impress him.

Motivation, then comes momentum. In physics, though I have forgotten the formula for momentum, I still remember that it takes the highest amount of force to get things move. After that, it would be easier. It's like pushing a big box on a flat surface. Getting it to start moving is the toughest, but once it moves, it gets easier. But don't stop because once you stop, it requires that same amount of momentum to get it moves again.

The same thing applies here, in the battle to lose weight. To get started. To find the motivation.

What I did right before was I had a lot of reading materials. I educate myself along the way. I read a lot of books and magazines with people success stories and the right way to lose weight. At one point, I think I had mastered it all. There's no shortcut to losing weight. There are other methods to lose weight in the market these days, but the traditional method is still the best. It's by changing the lifestyle. Eat right and exercise.

Eat right - though it sounds easy, there's a lot of misconception on it. 'Dieting' doesn't mean that you should refrain yourself from eating. 'Diet' doesn't mean die minus the t. Dieting means eating the right food with the right portion. For example, it's wrong if you totally stop taking rice in the name of diet. Of course you hear that people lose weight fast when they stop eating rice. But how long can you do that? Until you reach your weight goal? Then after that? You are not going to eat rice your whole life? If that's the case, then fine. But if you still desire to eat rice later in life, might as well 'learn' how to eat rice with the right portion for your body, right from the very beginning. That's what changing the lifestyle means. It's for the long run.

Exercise is something that should not be left out when you want to lose weight. Some people might lose weight without exercising. Sure it works. But, losing weight also means that we want to have healthier life. There's no point being thin, but sick. Deep inside, your body is weak and unfit. So that's why when the experts talk about losing weight, they will talk about exercising as well. Again, it's about changing the lifestyle.

Why am I writing this? Because I need the motivation and momentum!! Badly!! Uwaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! It's 2008 and I haven't managed to reach my goal that I have set last year. I need to do something about it, before it's too late. I guess there're a few out there who wants to lose weight as well this year? So hopefully we can motivate each other.

As a starter, check out this Weight Watcher's site and the recipes. I used to buy their magazines before in Australia but over here, it's a bit hard to get them.

Happy reading, people!!

FedEx. FedUp.

Korang ingat tak iklan FedEx yang meredah hutan, gunung, sungai untuk deliver barang tu? It's like diorang je yang reti deliver ke ceruk rantau dunia? It's like diorang efisyen gila? Korang ingat tak cite Runaway Bride yang ada lori FedEx tu, yang Julia Roberts tumpang masa nak lari tu, pastu someone tanya mana minah tu nak pegi and a guy jawab 'whatever it is, she will be delivered by tomorrow'.. or something like that?

Suma tu nak prove kan yang diorang so reliable kan? So bagus kan? So cekap boleh deliver door to door without any hassle kan?

Ni aku nak cerita.. it might be one of punya cerita, tapi aku still nak cerita sebab aku sakit hati hari ni, hari aku dihabiskan buat keje diorang.

Gini ceritanya..

Tengahari tadi, colleague aku kat Miri call kata ada barang kat MAS Kargo Miri untuk diclearkan. Shipped from USA, guna FedEx. Dia kata, forwarder kitorang nampak barang tu dok dendiam kat MAS Kargo ofis. Diorang approached MAS Kargo, and MAS Kargo bagi diorang ni the airway bill (AWB). Sepatutnya, barang tu dah dideliver dek FedEx ke ofis tapi tatau apa jadik. Kalau nak soh forwarder tu clearkan, kena bayar RM 5K duty. Moskel aku. Setahu aku, barang tu akan dipulangkan semula.. guna untuk training je. So tak payah ada duty apa-apa. Kat consignment note ada tulis dah DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) term dia. So nape nak bayar duty?

So aku call customer service FedEx. Bagi AWB number. FedEx cek, kata barang tu dah delivered. Siap kata dah chop and sign dah. Kalau dah deliver, apa barang yang ada kat MAS Kargo tu kan? Instead of trace apa benda yang ada tu, mati-mati diorang kata dah deliver. So, aku mintak le dokumen yang prove, yang kata dah deliver, chop and sign. Mamat kat customer service tu carik, then fax kan kat aku. Apa yang aku dapat, cuma computer generated fax.

Quote:

Our record reflect the following delivery information for the shipment with the tracking number xxxxxxxxxxxx. The information is incomplete and we regret the inconvenience this may cause. However, as stated in the FedEx Service Guide, we assume no liability to our inability to provide a copy of the delivery record.

Delivery information:

Signed for by: CHOP & SIGN
Delivered to: (blank)
Delivery date: December 28, 2007
Delivery time: 03:00 PM

Unquote.

Ada lagi kat document tu, tapi suma irrelevant. Suma tak guna punya info. So based on the so-called 'Service Guide', aku tak leh dapat info yang aku nak?? Aku kena just accept yang barang dah deliver?? Too bad lah kan.. Silap orang.

The customer service dah tatau apa nak buat. Tapi dia kata nanti dia cek and bagitau aku. Aku nak prove sapa yang chop and sign tu. Barulah aku leh carik kat ofis tu kalau sungguh dah deliver and tanya si penerima tu kan. Tapi diorang tak leh kasi prove yang aku nak. Aku call lak another department. Department apa ntah, yang called colleague aku kat Miri dulu. Pun sama, minah tu kata barang dah deliver. Confident gila. Tapi kali ni, kata barang deliver pagi tadi, kul 8:01 AM. Huh? Udah tukar?

Pastu kata dia akan cek semula.

Then customer service mamat call aku. Kata, kalau nak trace, nak cari the actual signed and stamped Delivery Order boleh, tapi based on past experience, it will take SEVEN days! SEVEN days?? Haram jadah le kan. Aku kata, takpe.. bak mari nombor tepon ofis kat Miri tu. Dia kasi satu nombor. Aku kata, itu bukan nombor Miri. Dia kata, dia takde nombor Miri. Cuma ada nombor Kuching je. Suma go through Kuching.

So aku call Kuching lak. Kuching kata, dah delivered kalau based on the system. So aku mintak prove. Pun tak leh kasi. Tapi dia soh tunggu dia call ofis dia kat Miri. Sekali dah call, dia kata, Miri kata tak deliver lagi and ada kat MAS Kargo Miri. Oh cilakak lah kan?? Kan aku dah kata awal-awal lagi yang barang tu ada kat MAS Kargo Miri kan?? Bila aku tanya sapa yang kata barang tu dah deliver, dia kata tak tau. Kena cek dulu. Takpe.. cek sampai dapat.

Aku contact balik customer service bagitau yang Miri kata still ada kat MAS Kargo. Aku demand explanation nape kata dah deliver. Mamat customer service tatau apa nak jawab. Lagipun, dia yang kata nak 7 hari nak trace kan? Tapi aku dah trace tak sampai sejam pun kan. Aku kata, dia nak carik info, or aku cakap dengan manager dia. Dia kata, dia nak carik info. Fine.

Minah yang aku tatau from department mana tu lak call. Katanya, colleague aku kat Miri yang kata nak buat clearance. Tu pasal barang tu dok dendiam kat MAS Kargo. Aku kata, mana prove. Dia kata kena carik. Tapi, dia ingat yang dia tanya colleague aku, nak buat 'transhipment' kat KLIA or Miri and colleague aku bagitau Miri. From her understanding, it means that benda tu nak dihantar ke ofis lah kan. Dah sah-sah alamat kat consignment note tu tulis nama ofis. Tapi orang FedEx kata, itu maksudnya diorang deliver ke MAS Kargo je and kitorang kena buat sendiri clearance. Apa jadah guna diorang punya service kalau nak clear sendiri?? Baik guna forwarder je! Lagi murah aku rasa. Bahalol. Kata dia, memang procedure diorang biasa kena call dulu tanya sapa nak buat clearance. Tatau lah kan.. aku tak pandai tu suma. Tapi yang pasti, kat consignment note tu clearly tulis 'Ship to Ofis kat Miri'. Nape nak tanya lagi? Pastu, salah colleague aku tak paham bahasa dia?

Masa aku mintak nak cakap dengan manager dia, dia kata manager dia on leave. Aku mintak anyone above manager dia, dia teragak-agak pastu kata nanti nak soh team leader dia call aku.

Team leader dia lak call aku. Aku kata, yang pasti, aku tanak buat apa-apa, tapi nak tau barang tu sampai ke ofis Miri. Aku kata lagi, the main reason kita amik FedEx sebab nak yang door to door service. Kalau tak, baik aku amik orang lain je buat. Pastu, aku nak tau nape kata dah deliver in the first place. Dia kata nanti dia cek.

Later dia call semula. Dia kata, dah cakap dah dengan orang kat Miri tu. Nanti diorang tolong buat clearance tapi colleague aku still kena amik documents from MAS Kargo sebab sekarang clearance udah tukar tangan. Gatal kan? Aku kata, aku tak kira. Aku tanak colleague aku tu buat keje. Diorang kena settlekan. Pastu aku tanya lagi pasal yang kata dah delivered tu, sapa. Dia kata, silap enter dalam sistem. Boleh?? Gitu je? It means, kalau forwarder aku tak pasan benda tu kat MAS Kargo, sampai la ni lah diorang dok kata barang tu dah deliver? Dia kata tak jugak. Tapi takde explanation. Boleh gitu?

Pastu minah kat department apa ntah tu call aku semula. Nak explain cerita apa yang jadik, from the moment dia call colleague aku. Dia kata, orang yang dia biasa deal from ofis Miri aku tu takde kat ofis. So dia cakap dengan someone else. Dia 'assume' someone else ni pun sama paham terminology diorang macam another colleague. Oh hangin aku! Main assume?? Tak tersabar dah aku. Then dia kata, diorang akan buat clearance tapi colleague aku still kena deal dengan MAS Kargo. Aku dah fedap dah masa tu.

Then colleague aku kat Miri lak call. Kata minah FedEx tu call dia. So dia akan buatlah apa yang FedEx soh dia buat. Harus dengar suara aku dah hangin, dia pun malas nak layan dah. Kata dia, clearance boleh settle sehari je. Esok siap. Kalau tak siap gak, tatau sapa nak kena bambu lak dengan aku.

In conclusion, aku nyampah dah dengan FedEx. FedUp.
